Hi,
I saw this news item, so thought it might help people who use Windows here and Western Digital SSDs.
Yeah I’m fairly certain that’s what my issues where I run the 770 mine and several other computers. all of which did not like 24h2. updated ssds and now updating windows to see…well they have 24h2 upgrade blocked with WD NVME disks.
If anyone is interested in the cause of this issue, it is because the WD SN770 uses Host Memory Buffer (HMB) to improve SSD speeds. This means that a certain amount of system memory is used essentially as cache for the SSD.
In the 24H2 update, Microsoft expanded the amount of HMB memory an SSD could access from 64MB, and the SN770 somehow had a firmware issue that made it refuse to boot due to the increased HMB amount.
Glad to see the issue has been solved!
