Batch 7 here 
Ordered the AMD 7840U on the 18th of september. Ordered it with no Ram and SD. Crucial had a sweet deal so i could get a lot more bang for the buck. Who knows if we will get the laptops this year. I really hope so. Mine isnt cutting it right now

I’m always an impatient waiter for new tech. But this concept suits me so well that I couldn’t help myself!
As Batch 8 is also Q4, I’m hoping for despatch by early November. But I’ll probably have to be ‘patient’ for longer!!
I have my Rufus USB ready to go 
and I’m considering whether or not to order my dBrand skin in anticipation too!

Apparently i am also Batch 7, ordered 15th September or so after waiting for some benchmarks for the AMDs and then thought i might as well pre-order. I hope that the hardware will arrive this year although i am a bit skeptical as we are 2 Weeks in Batch 1 and Batch 2 is silent so far.
That said, i enjoy this. I got a 4 year old Laptop with an i-8165U (i think?) that always had a horrible battery life but is otherwise a good travel notebook and i am a bit torn about replacing perfectly working hardware, but, some task are really annoyingly slow. But it works for its purpose so no rush, therefore i really enjoy this childlike waiting for something, the slight impatience, the rush of getting a new toy eventually, reading about other people, keeping the thoughts exited. Once the package arrives at my doorstep it will be all business, i need to get Ubuntu running, there will be problems, firmware updates might be needed, something weird will happen. Sleep will not work and i will need hours of bug fixing because i am mediocre with computers. And then i have to customize everything, it will take weeks till all the parts feel good, to my liking.
But till then, before all the boring work comes, there is only anticipation, and i must say, i enjoy this way too much. Although some graphic benchmarks and performance differences between 7640 and 7840 would be nice to have at hand.
If i would need a laptop right now, this would be so frustrating, but as it is currently, exciting.

I know it’s just a laptop but there’s something nice to be said about the community that’s formed around frame work and their sustainability mission. I really didn’t need a new laptop but I’m quite hopeful about the one I’ve ordered.

Batch 7 here. I would like to do some modifications to my order: RAM(32GBx1 to 16GBx2), expansion cards (+HDMI, and remove charger. Will this move me to batch 8?
Computer shopping for the first time in 11 years made me pretty nervous, and finding myself settling on an unreleased product doubly so. The desktop I built in 2012 is still trucking along, but I find myself needing to work while out and about more often, and relying on one computer at home just isn’t cutting it anymore. Hopefully the Framework will be an 11-year laptop for me! Looking forward to seeing what folks in the first few batches think before ours ship.

@hdmm3 I’ve made 2 separate requests to update my order through customer service and it has not changed my order status in that way, I am still in batch 7.

Most accessories and things can be updated without changing the batch. However, certain things (the only one I know for sure is changing the CPU, for instance Ryzen 5 to 7) will require cancelling your order and placing a new order in the current batch. This is because those are limited in number for each batch.

Amazing, thanks for starting the AMD Batch 7 Guild! I am glued to the updates in the Batch 1 Guild, many times a day.
So excited to fire up the beast, got 64GB of RAM since I am currently struggling with 16GB in a Dell XPS 13 2-in-1 7390 with one (out of two) broken fan…
So… when do you think we will recieve our precious?! I am personnaly hoping for beginning of December.

I felt like 64GB of ram in my order was also the sensible thing to do 
. I’m definitely hoping for a December delivery. Now we wait and see!

What can you even do with 64GB of RAM? Protein folding? Multiple Minecraft servers? VMs?
