Super frustrating.
In other news, those of you (lucky SOBs) who have received your laptops from Batch 2 (and had time to set them up), how do you like them?! Pics or it didn’t happen!
@inffy were you able to get back to your FW? Hopefully you have had some time with it now.

Mine has been handed off to the local carrier for final delivery so if I’m lucky I’ll get it sometime this weekend, and if I’m REALLY lucky I’ll get it today.

I just realised I never mentioned what I’ll be installing on mine when it eventually arrives!
I’ve been running Ubuntu for a few years on my personal machine and using Debian on my work machine, however I think I’m going to try Arch to see how I get on.
I’m hoping it’ll be an enjoyable challenge testing out my Linux knowledge and I won’t regret attempting it

If yoiu want to take it little easier on the start I can recommend Arch based cachyOS (www.cachyos.org), it has packages optimized for the newer Zen (zen4 and 5).
Been running it on my older Thinkpad and going to use it on my FW too.
I hadn’t even considered there being an Arch based distro, thanks for the recommendation. I’ll have a read of their docs now.
Well there are actually many “arch based” ones, like EndeavourOS, Garuda, CachyOS and the bastard child Manjaro and lot of others

nice dude what was your order date? I’m July 22nd - still in ‘pre-order confirmed’ … so looks like I’ll be waiting until next week
June 19th for me, hopefully you won’t be waiting much longer
Woohoo, my FW arrived yesterday already - one day earlier that the UPS estimate. (I’m in Germany.) I’m putting it together now and then I’ll install Ubuntu 24.04.1.
Fingers crossed for those of you who are still waiting - I can tell you it’s a sexy beast!

Well, they didn’t make the August ship date.
Batch 2, 7840U, 2.8K display, no custom ports/bezel, no ram, no power supply, no storage, August ship date.
Paid Aug. 26, 2024. Promised 1-3 business day ship date.
4 business days later (also last business day in August) and no shipping notification. 
I’m leaving USA on September 14th. Will be gone 17 months. I hope it gets here in time. If not, I’m screwed and will have to purchase another laptop during my travels or just before I leave… My current one will not cut it. It is too old and tired.
I’d be surprised if it didn’t make by September dude.
I’ve owned an FW13 before and it’s a great travel laptop, enjoy (when you get it)

I’m very excited to get it. I just hope it comes in time. They said they’d be surprised if I don’t receive it by September, but here we are.

I’m July 19th, still waiting.
Shipped 30th August (Friday) and out for delivery right now Sept 2nd (Monday).
Taiwan to Belfast too, not bad at all
Hopefully you get a working one. Mine has a display that doesn’t work. And now have to wait atleast till tomorrow for FW support to come back to work as today seems to be holiday in the US
