I just got my prep email as well
Likewise got my prep email, at the same time as y’all
Just got my email last night!
I got the 7840U model. I plan to trick mine out with 2x32GB of Crucial DDR5 5600, a 2TB T500 Crucial SSD, AX210 wlan, and Linux
Nice! I got the exact same thing (CPU/RAM/SSD/Wifi)! I read the Crucial T500 has excellent thermals (AKA runs cool).
I’m also in Batch 3 and got my email a few days ago. SOO excited!
I ordered yesterday and got the “preparing your batch” email 6 hours later.
Nice timing
Is the wifi card ax210 better than default framework one? Otherwise I ordered the same framework config, ssd and only 2x16 ram that’s enough for me .
Could post a link pls of the wifi card you got?
Thanks.
I did end up getting an AX210 card to replace the WiFi card that will come in my laptop (it hasn’t shipped yet). I’ve seen enough feedback in various places on the wifi card AMD forces vendors to include with their processors that the extra ~$25 spend is worth it.
I just searched for AX210 on Amazon and got one that looked legit.
I did the same thing, yesterday. I’d rather have a known good Intel WiFi module on hand if I get any strange / poor behavior from the AMD / MediaTek module.
I did some poking around online and found the MediaTek one was being reported as less reliable than Intel’s offerings.
Just watch out that you only order an AX210, because the AX211 and some of intel’s other wlan cards will ONLY work on Intel machines.
I’ve personally seen reports of the AX210 working fine on the AMD edition, but as with anything, your own research is best for you.
Looks like Batch 3 is full now, orders are now on Batch 4
Hoping to get my FW13 soon, they did not charged me yet.
I have a AX210 that I just bougth for my old laptop, I’ll reuse that.
I will pair my FW13 with a WD SN850X 2TB and Crucial 48GB Kit (2x24GB)
congrats!!
There should be no issues with the AX210. I have a couple of these installed in AMD desktop PC’s.
I bought one and have it on hand ready to swap with the AMD / MediaTek adapter when my new 13 arrives.
AX210 works fine with the AMD version. I swapped my Mediatek one straight to AX210
Just got this email…
Update on your Framework Laptop 13 pre-order - Batch 3
We are reaching out to share an update on your batch. We sent an email on August 29 letting you know that we are preparing your batch. We still expect to ship your batch within September as originally communicated, but it will be at the end of the month so we wanted to let you know since it may be slightly outside of the shipping window communicated in the “preparing your batch” email of 4-21 days.
We understand if the product timing no longer meets your requirements, and you can follow the instructions in this Knowledge Base article to cancel your pre-order if necessary.
The rest of your batch is expected to ship starting September 9 and we’ll ship all pre-orders in your batch before the end of September.
I don’t understand what the last sentence is supposed to mean.
I received the same email.
Maybe they mean to say the batch starts shipping September 9th, but that later orders might be later in the month?
Maybe this delay is only for non pre-orders somehow?
I placed my order near the beginning of August, so I don’t think that’s the distinction?
I received the same email and I’m a bit puzzled by the last sentence too. It contradicts which was said before “We still expect to ship your batch within September as originally communicated, but it will be at the end of the month”.
Plus I never received the prep email since I ordered on September 1st
I got the same email as well. I’m guessing this is a blanket email, and that bit only applies to folks who ordered other things in the same order, maybe? No clue, honestly, but time will tell.
