Batch 9 Guild

You mean, let’s see how much their sendmail server cries when everyone in NL starts processing… :stuck_out_tongue:

@FlyingFox.of.theYard Sorry non dutchies for the Dutch.

IDeal can be used to prove IBAN and to approve future withdrawals from that account. Not the preferred way but it is possible.

"

@Proximus that’s perfectly clear, thanks!

This is kind of painful to read. I’m Dutch and I moved to Germany for my job and now other Dutch people are getting their frameworks before me, even though NL only just opened up.

@Daniel_Agorander @FlyingFox.of.theYard I had the same thoughts about deferred payments via iDeal. Maybe there’s a time limit on when the payment has to come through and maybe that expired after a month? I’m also with Rabobank.

@Tarick_Welling meanwhile, over in the Batch 10 Guild, people are getting their tracking links even though the batch was only supposed to ship in April :disappointed:

@BoredStudent @Daniel_Agorander
I got the same notification about a problem with the payment and paid directly straight away when I saw the email, it seems to me they are indeed not able to get the follow-up payment via iDeal for whatever reason. I also paid the deposit via Rabo.

Let’s hope this doesn’t make for any significant delays…

It does have its advantages to the alternatives though. I never bothered getting a CC with more than 1000 euro credit limit, because I just use my “pinpas” for anything in person and iDeal for anything online. I could in theory use that system Rabobank has for letting me temporarily bump up my credit limit, but “do final capture manually” is one action on my part, “increase limit, switch payment method, then decrease limit again after capture” is three…

And well, I’m fine with minor delays. Worst case just means my Framework will start with FreeBSD 13.1 RC instead of a Beta. There are worse fates. :stuck_out_tongue: (I’m still F5-ing the shit out of my mailbox, though…)

Me too, I wish they’d get on with it :persevere:

@Ywen @Daniel_Agorander I don’t think this iDeal issue creates a substantial delay. In my case at least, seeing that I got an e-mail saying my order will be shipped soon immediately after paying the final amount, it got delayed for a few hours at most since I received the failed payment e-mail at 1 am, when I was asleep. When I say immediately by the way, I don’t think I even had enough time to close the Rabobank app after sending the payment before I got an e-mail notification pop-up.

I’m assuming that the ‘will be shipped soon’ e-mail would’ve been sent (at 1am) instead of the failed payment e-mail if everything went right in one go. If it’s a common issue, maybe the payment process needs to be altered for iDeal payments. Maybe Framework could disable automatic payments for iDeal and instead send a similar e-mail to the failed payment e-mail (containing a payment link for the remaining amount) when it’s time for you to pay up.

Indeed. I would suspect that the worst it can get is a one-day delay - say, if capture is supposed to be automatic, but isn’t, the unit isn’t released for processing and due to timezone issues ends up happening the next day.

In the grand scheme of things: epic first world problem.

This exactly. I guess this could be a bit annoying if you desperately need a new laptop, but if it’s really that important I don’t think you’d be buying a (DIY) laptop for pre-order anyways ;)

Despite this all, I really got to give credit to Framework here. Sometimes some information is a little bit unclear, but replies are always super quick and every time I had a problem thusfar it was very easy to fix and it never took long to get a reply (taking timezone differences in mind). I really can’t wait until the laptop is delivered!

Yay, my framework is now on it’s way from Taipeh to Vienna, :austria:.

Looking forward to give the Framework a try

Just received my Framework in France (i5, 16gb, no ssd, power adapter and 5 extension cards). Shipped in less than a week, very impressive. Everything works flawlessly so far.
Hope you’ll all get yours soon !
