Got tired of hijacking Batch 8 and batch 9 thread, got my we’re preparing your shipment email yesterday, I assume most of us got them too

I got the “We’re preparing your batch” email yesterday as well! Card is expected to be charged Sept 19, with shipping 1-3 days. I did add a third usb-c expansion card after the email, so we’ll see if that impacts the schedule at all

Yep. I see a pending charge on my card as well. No email yet.

My card got charged and got the email today. The email says “Your order will ship within the next few business days”, so I assume it will be shipped out Monday at the earliest, and probably by Wednesday if I had to guess.

I got my order preparation e-mail at presumably the same time as other users here, and following a card charge on Saturday night followed by the payment confirmation e-mail a few hours after. They were the moments I were waiting for. Finally, it’s getting real. I’m excited!!

As my card was charged on Saturday, I predict that mine will be sent out later today (Monday).

What I picked:

  • Graphite chassis
  • Intel Core Ultra X7
  • 16 GB RAM (purchased from a local seller and later realised it’s an E0 module)
  • 1 TB internal storage (Crucial P510 purchased from another local seller)
  • Black bezel
  • Black keyboard
  • Power adapter

The initial set of expansion cards I picked, based on how I used my previous laptop:

  • 2× USB-C
  • 2x USB-A
  • HDMI
  • Ethernet interface
  • microSD card reader

Software setup: Dual-boot between Debian testing branch builds and Windows Insider Beta Channel builds (however I’ve also been considering just having Debian only and running Windows in a VM)

After reading other threads here and checking to find that the LPCAMM2 module I purchased is an E0 module, I ordered an E0 interposer from an AliExpress seller, but it arrived with broken pins so I was able to get a partial refund and then ordered from a different seller. I hope that arrives intact!

There’s also the kapton tape mod Lenovo/Ramaxel Memory Compatibility on Intel Ultra Series 3 - #44 by Esscan1

I’m currently thinking about this as there’s a facebook marketplace listing for a 64gb in my area but it’s E0, kinda thinking about risking it.

I’m considering running Debian as well. I plan to start with an Ubuntu live boot to make sure everything is working properly (I also went the third party ram route, so anxious to confirm it’s working). It looks like there are at least one or two folks who report successfully running Debian on FW13 Pros from earlier batches. Hopefully it’s a straightforward setup.

I had considered that, but remembered a comment on a post in the Framework community on Reddit that I think mentioned something about the quality of the tape and heat resistance or something along those lines.

The Kapton tape I bought was from an AliExpress seller and was unbranded, so I didn’t trust the quality of it enough to use it for something like this, however while writing this reply, I remembered that AliExpress saves snapshots of listings for purchases so I could check, and checking the description in that snapshot, I think the tape I bought could work, but I feel like trying the interposer method first as I already ordered one. If the second interposer I order were to arrive broken, I’ll try the Kapton tape method.

The module I have is still sealed in the pack it came to me in, but I had seen posts from other users who have the 32 or 64 GB versions of the same module (similar part numbers) and they mentioned needing to use the interposer swap or Kapton tape methods to get theirs to function as the affected pins weren’t isolated on theirs.

Based on what I’ve read about Linux kernel support, I figured it’d be possible to install Debian 13, enable Debian Backports access during setup, and then install the 7.1 kernel build from there which should automatically be set as the default during installation, however I’m not sure if the included Wi-Fi module would be supported on the older kernel version that Debian 13 uses, so a USB Ethernet interface might be needed during installation.

I plan to run memory tests off a live USB flash drive to make sure that the interposer swap works, so I could probably also test the live session of a different distro release while I’m at it if it has the 7.1 kernel or newer.

I thought kernel 7.2 was required due to the b390 gpu improvements

Aahh! It seems I (likely) had my details mixed up!

Checking the Debian package search tool, it seems that the 7.2 kernel hasn’t yet made it into the testing branch (current there is 7.1.13), thus hasn’t yet been backported (current in Backports is 7.1.8), but it’s there in the unstable branch (current there is 7.2.6). After enough testing, it should make its way down into Testing and then into Backports from there.

I’ve been surprised not to find more discussion of Debian setup on FW machines on this forum (beyond one or two mentions). While we are on the topic, do folks have any suggested resources?

Do we get an estimate on when the laptop is gonna get shipped? I’ve been waiting for way too long to sit quiet for a few days waiting for this thing to arrive. All three guilds seems eerily quiet about receiving their laptops, but that’s to be expected, this is only been a couple of days.

I on the other hand didn’t even receive confirmation of shipping, I thought that they’re gonna ship three batches together, no way in hell it’s gonna bleed into October now is it (knock on wood)? T^T

Any update from fellow batch 10s?

says on the email 1-3 days assume business days probably will go out the latest on wednesday since we were charged over the weekend. for most continental us posts i’ve seen it’s 3 days so probably get it by friday this week

I get the 1-3 day shipping thing, but I figured it’s gonna take a while cuz instead of sending out three batches together it seems like they’re still going from batch 8 → 10. No complains, but I feel like there is no guarantee on that 1-3 days if they aren’t combining the batches to ship together, cuz they still need to prioritize batch 8 & 9 from what it seems.

fingers crossed, I’ll keep my hopes up until Wednesday.

Just got tracking number

OMG YES!!

I finally got the shipment notification e-mail! It’s now on its way!

I knew from other posts that Framework uses FedEx through Aftership, which I correctly guessed, so I should also get a text from the FedEx Singapore WhatsApp bot soon with a link to track my delivery more easily. Fingers crossed!

Knowing from experience with purchases from a different company that uses the same delivery service, mine should arrive in 5 to 7 days.

On a side note, the second LPCAMM2 E0 interposer I ordered is also now on its way! Based on my past experience, it’s more likely that the interposer will arrive after the laptop itself, so I’m now more likely to use the Kapton tape method to get my E0 module to function, unless there’s a delay on my end, as I don’t want to risk damaging the socket and/or the interposer.
