Yes, it’s the exact same, and the customs have been slacking off like crazy this afternoon
It’s scheduled for Tuesday indeed, which in my opinion makes no sense. I don’t know about you but I live 1 hour 30 minutes away from the airport. Shouldn’t take 2 days to deliver it when I’m this close… Another thing that I don’t get is why it’s taking so long. We have priority delivery so it should be quick. As you can guess I’m not the most patient person around
It’s here! My doorbell broke so I had to sit and wait for the FedEx guy all day, but I’m gonna have some fun assembling it tonight:)
Hopefully no one installs their bezel wack like I did
This most of the damage other than a little bend make on the case and the bottom left corner of the bezel being a little broken
BTW, just a datapoint: my laptop came with 3.03
BTW if yall are stuck with .5 gb of vram there is a switch in bios to switch to 4gb of vram
For me, installing the bezel was, by far, the most tricky part of the process to be honest . I had to redo it at least three times, but I don’t think I damaged anything (except for, maybe, the wiring around the bottom of the screen, but I can’t test it until I get the RAM).
Yeah its definitely the most tricky part either its perfect or ends up like mine
I fiddled with it a bit as well. What helped me a lot was to lay the display completely flat and start with the bottom, carefully working it around the hinges and cables. From there the went into place pretty easily.
It shipped early Thursday my time, and arrived today.
Unfortunately one of my 2x 32gb Corsair DDR5 5600 sticks was bad, something which I found out after some testing. It boots with the other stick in any slot, but doesn’t boot with the bad stick at all. Going to get a replacement, but for now have it running with single channel 32gb RAM.
My unit shipped with the 3.03 BIOS:
[root@framework ~]# dmidecode -s bios-version
03.03
I’ve got Arch installed, using the Liquorix kernel, booting a UKI directly (look ma, no bootloader!), with LUKS full disk encryption & BTRFS. Now copying over all my files from my old laptop and getting Hyprland set up.
Anyone else having an issue with the input cover connector? The factory connected side of mine melted as soon as I plugged it in, saw some people with the same issues in batch 4 online.
This is my input cover, I already submitted it to support:
You’re making me all terrified excited here to be changing out my battery and screen and top cover all at the same time as the board upgrade…
Not sure if this is helpful to anyone, but in anticipation of possible issues that I saw people having with the input cover ribbon cable, I took some pictures of it before turning the power on. My unit did not have any issues, so this is an example of what the connector looks like under that circumstance.
Just recieved my Batch 4 AMD FW13 and encountered the same issue with the input cover connector shorting/melting. Very disappointing after waiting so long for this thing.
Wow. So far, mine’s been OK, but this is pervasive. Seems like a huge problem for Framework.
That top cover melting issue totally sucks!
The installation guide (step 9) includes a step about checking the connector on the keyboard side.
Was that added recently because of these issues? And is following this step sufficient to stop the short from happening or is there a more fundamental QC issue?
I also start to worry about the warranty in the coming years.
What if the connector works fine by shear luck, but in 3 years when installing a new motherboard, it melts?
Seems like a very real possibility.
Fortunately according to what most people are reporting, the problem is on the “factory-side”. But what does that mean; is that the connector that you will never “touch” as end-user?
@Aiko @Althia I suppose that those customs entries are paperwork that was submitted.
I tried to stalk the plane on flightradar and was quite surprised not to find any. There aren’t daily FedEx flights Guangzhou > Paris.
My guess is that our computers are in FedEx flight FX9010 - Flightradar24 that left Guanzhou at 5:48 (22:48 Paris time) and should land at CDG at 12:20 Paris Time.
I suppose they won’t deliver a saturday evening nor a sunday. So probably monday… (too bad, I’ll be working at stade de france even closer to CDG, but I’ll need to reschedule for tuesday…)
Edit: almost there.
If I am not mistaken, I recall seeing it on some previous generation guides even before AMD Batch 1 started shipping, so, no, I think, it’s always been there (and, knowing about all these issues, I definitely made sure to not skip this step and pay extra attention ).
