Batch 3 - Intel 12th Gen - Guild

Just saw that all orders from Australia (Batch 4) are starting to ship 1260p laptops (emails with preparing the order were sent on the 1st of October), while some Batch 3 are not yet fulfilled. Good news for the aussies. Bad news for the EU unlucky customers.

If English is not your primary language you might not be as inclined to participate/complete. Or in different countries different profiles of customers might be buying in different proportions (geek vs business person etc.). Or the weather is different and people have better things to do and forget to update, or …

… it’s pretty given that there will be per-country/region/language differences.

I’m happy for you. I’ve seen all sorts of behavior in communities you’d never expect stuff like this to happen. All it takes is one person that e.g. doesn’t like French people and now they are creating fake entries just to mess with them. One person. All it takes.

I’m not saying that this is what is happening. I’m saying - take everything with a grain of salt.

It is 100% sure that not everyone fill the spreadsheet ofc.

Plus, lines in the document tend (not saying all) to come from impatient people (like waiting for a Christmas gift) to increase a potential data mining allowing them to predict their delivery.
NB: Some culture are complaining more than others too

Overall not a bad tool, a nice one, but totally inaccurate.

I received my Framework on 9/19 and I have had it about 2 weeks now. The packaging of it was decent however, there was some like residue from the factory it seemed. At first I thought it was a scratch which I would have been very unhappy with. I just used isopropyl alcohol to wipe it away luckily.

After using it daily, I can definitely say I would like some more battery life out of it. I always have
a charger handy and I mostly use it with a thunderbolt docking station with 2x 1440p monitor set up. It has performed very well for all the tasks I needed. I tried gaming on a light game for the lols but it wasn’t very playable. I only spec’d it with the i5-1240p since I am hopeful for an AMD variant to come soon. I did put a Samsung 980 Pro 1TB and 16GB of Kingston Fury CL20 RAM as well with an extra slot for another 16gb later down the line.

Aside from the battery life, the one major gripe I have is with the trackpad. There are times where I will try to go and click but the cursor will move about 2 cm down and to the left. It can be very frustrating at times. Usually happens when I am moving around fast so I haven’t had the chance to slow down and record it happening. I am not sure if this is just a driver issue or if my trackpad is defective. Has anyone ever experienced this?
I tracked down this forum post but it does look like its the same issue I am experiencing.

I did the same thing  However I don’t think an AMD board will be available for some time.

I read somewhere else that the graphics performance only works at 100% when both memory slots are used.

Good to know. I will definitely be exchanging the 1 stick for the 2 stick bundle instead. Thanks for pointing that out!

Got Step 3 yesterday, step 4 today!

Updated the spreadsheet

Did it work out? I can imagine the copper pads might work, but how will that ssd cooler going to fit into the frame?

Yea, the ssd cooler was too tall, but the copper pads worked well. I have had a work pile on so all I have done is get ubuntu installed and a few settings adjusted. I haven’t done any benchmarking. Also, I purchased, and intended to use, the paste on the cpu, but when I opened it I decided not detach the fan (because it looked so perfect lol). I can always do that in the future since everything is replaceable!

I found this guy’s video to explain how to install the cooling equipment but he also goes into the theories about the heating on the newer model ssds: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LtlMqxfAG00 ; https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V7jk6tAq3Lg

After a long long wait (of 48 days), I’ve finally gotten my email about preparing to ship. Although I was very close to canceling, can’t wait for the laptop to arrive
Spreadsheet updated.

3 Days past the initial expected delivery date. Says “At local FedEx facility”. Extremely frustrating. Does anyone know if you can pick it up there? Guess I could call them and ask.

I’m one of the group whose shipping date is 2022-Oct-05, and the latest tracking update from Anchorage is ‘Package delayed due to some issues during the customs clearance’. In the Aftership App there is also an alert saying ‘Contact carrier or shipper at the earliest to resolve the issue. Carrier may return the package to sender if it is not resolved’. Are others seeing this, or is this just me? :frowning:

I’ve got the “English International” keyboard. Don’t think that is really a special or different keyboard, anyhow I’m still patiently waiting. Would like to receive it soon though, it would be nice to have a new and working laptop.

Same here, got the email yesterday.

I had just sent an email to support to request an update on the delay, asking for a more detailled explanation compared to their last comm…
They responded with pretty much the same answer, that they ship “excess” SKUs to batch 4. Which I’m still not convinced is the full picture, as we’ve seen the same motherboard/keyboard combo being shipped to later orders while earlier ones were still waiting…

Unless their definition of SKUs is more encompassing than I imagine, in which case maybe they could adopt a more flexible approach to fulfilling orders to avoid “SKU build-up” while other SKUs are short on inventory.

Anyway, good luck to everyone still waiting

Just got my “preparing to ship” email. Ordered on the first of September. Of course I will be on vacation for the next two weeks. I hope it doesn’t come in while I am gone. Would’ve been nice to have it for vacation :sob:. The flight would’ve been nicer watching shows on the Framework than my phone. Oh well. I should just be glad it is going to be ready soon.
